Alumni Association Funds Grand Piano purchase

At it’s executive meeting on February 25/04 the Alumni Association voted to contribute $7,500 to the school, to make possible the purchase of a performance-level grand piano for the South auditorium. Current music director Rob Larose and various groups of music students had raised $2,000 towards the purchase – but could not realistically hope to achieve the minimum $10,000 needed for such an acquisition.

The Alumni Association grant has been made possible by profits from the recent 75th Anniversary. Plans are in the offing for the Association to sponsor a “dedication concert”, featuring one or two South grads who are performance-level artists who could play such a concert once the new piano is purchased. Proceeds from this concert would cover the remaining expenses of this major acquisition.
